New Leadership at TeamHealth Southeast
(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) July 25, 2006 –TeamHealth announced the appointment of Stephen G. Holtzclaw, M.D., FACEP, as the new president and chief medical officer of TeamHealth Southeast. Dr. Holtzclaw has more than 20 years of experience in emergency medicine and has been with TeamHealth since 2001 as chairman, Department of Emergency Medicine at TeamHealth East client The Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore. He was recognized as TeamHealth East's Affiliate Medical Director of the Year in 2004.
A former paramedic, Dr. Holtzclaw earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and completed an emergency medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he also serves as a faculty member for the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Holtzclaw is board certified in emergency medicine. In addition to his hospital-based service, he has volunteered as a team physician for the U.S. National Shooting Team and the U.S. Modern Pentathlon Team. He also competed in five U.S. Olympic Trials and is a licensed FAA commercial pilot. Dr. Holtzclaw has relocated to southern Florida.
Dr. Holtzclaw has replaced Dr. Neil Principe, who retired from his current position after serving as president of TeamHealth Southeast (formerly InPhyNet) since 1997. Dr. Principe will continue to serve TeamHealth in a consultative role, including assisting with the transition of Dr. Holtzclaw. Dr. Principe has proudly served the emergency medicine community for 32 years. Dr. Holtzclaw and Oliver Rogers, who joined TeamHealth Southeast in 2003 and serves as the division’s chief executive officer, will jointly manage the rapidly growing and successful TeamHealth Southeast organization.
